Description from the seller

Description
The bronze statue of the Dancing Faun is a faithful reproduction of one of the most famous masterpieces of ancient art, discovered in Pompeii and now housed at the Archaeological Museum of Naples.

The subject depicts a faun dancing, a symbol of fertility and abundance in Greco-Roman culture. Its elegant posture and joyful expression immediately convey a sense of freedom and vitality, embodying the playful and festive nature of the faun, linked to rituals and celebrations in honor of Dionysus.

Made in bronze using the lost-wax technique, this sculpture is derived from a mold of the original created in the early 20th century by the historic Fonderia Chiurazzi of Naples. In addition to large-scale monuments, the foundry produced faithful copies of statues from major museums, contributing to the souvenir market for travelers of the Grand Tour between the 19th and 20th centuries.

Features

Material: bronze, lost wax casting

Dimensions: 75 x 35 x 35 cm

Weight: 10 kg

Patina: color obtained by heating the bronze and applying nitric acid and copper with a brush.

Handcrafted in Italy
