Description from the seller
Edward Steichen - The Family of Man. MoMA New York - 1955
Museum of Modern Art, New York by Maco Magazine Corporation, New York. Distributed by Simon and Schuster, New York. 1955. Paperback. 213 x 277 mm. 192 pages. Prologue: Carl Sandburg. Introduction by Edward Steichen. Text in English.
True first original printing from 1955 (not to be confused with later printings) in very good condition. The interior is in excellent condition, considering how delicate the thin pages are. No markings, no foxing, no creased pages. Outside, it is a bit darkened with minor signs of handling, but still in very good condition given the age of the book. Firm binding, no missing parts.
The exhibition was curated by the legendary Edward Steichen for the Museum of Modern Art in New York and featured 503 photographs from 68 countries.
Photos by the best photographers of that time.

Eugene Smith, Edouard Boubat, Harry Callahan, Lee Miller, Edward Steichen, Ruth Orkin, Richard Avedon, Irving Penn, Sabine Weiss, Helen Levitt, Barbara Morgan, Sandford Roth, Alfred Eisenstaedt, Henri Cartier-Bresson, David Duncan, August Sander, Werner Bischof, Ernst Haas, Roman Vishniac, Margaret Bourke-White, Anna Riwkin-Brick, Rene Groebli, Brassai, Paul Himmel, Hans Hammarskjöld, Elliott Erwitt, Bill Brandt, Cas Oorthuys, Dorothea Lange, Manuel Alvarez Bravo, David Seymour, Gordon Parks, Herbert List, Lisette Model, Leon Levinstein, Cornell Capa, Roy deCarava, Joseph Breitenbach, Andreas Feininger, David Seymour, Garry Winogrand, Leonard McCombe, Ed van der Elsken, Jakob Tuggener, Hermann Claasen, Robert Doisneau, Louis Faurer, Robert Capa, George Rodger, Yasuhiro Ishimoto, Clemens Kalischer, Arthur Leipzig, Burt Glinn, Eve Arnold, Manuel Alvarez Bravo, Wynn Bullock, Frank Horvat and many others.
