Four carved wooden wall plaques in late 19th‑century Neoclassical style, in brown polychrome finish, each measuring 40 cm wide, 50 cm high and 25 cm deep, originating from Firenze, Italy, in good used condition with age‑related signs.
Description from the seller
In this rare and truly unique occasion, four enormous wall sconces in wood with a polychrome finish in the tones of Terra Gea will be auctioned.
The wall sconces vividly evoke a rural theme typical of that historical period.
These are real sculptures, highly detailed for the time they depict, symbolizing spring with intertwined olive branches and olives on each branch.
The branches are intertwined at the base, adorned with an elegant knot on each appliqué.
All the appliques have been restored over the years and have recently undergone a typical conservative restoration.
The typical conservation restoration involves cleaning, reinforcing the sculptural and pictorial support, replacing damaged or worn parts, but does NOT alter the historicity nor modify its historical appearance and the state of wear, including color fading or age-related imperfections.
