Allegrini La Poja 2016 from Veneto, Italy, two bottles of 0.75 L, made from Corvina Veronese, with a Bordeaux neck-fill level and a fully intact metal capsule and readable label.
Description from the seller
When in 1979 Giovanni Allegrini, moved by a brilliant intuition and a deep knowledge of his beloved Valpolicella, decided to plant only Corvina Veronese grapes on the top of La Grola, perhaps he did not imagine the extraordinary success that this wine, "La Poja" would achieve.
The summit of the Grola hill has a very small plateau of less than three hectares, dazzling for the candor of the limestone stones, planted entirely with corvina. Highly qualitative viticulture delivers grapes of great personality and perfect maturation to the winery.
The ripe Corvina grapes macerate for 25 days and then age in new d'Allier barriques for 20 months and 8 months in large Slavonia barrels. The maturation ends after 10 months in the bottle.
The Poja Allegrini, after more than four years of aging, is extraordinarily fresh and crunchy, wide in the aromas of fruit, spices and medicinal herbs, of great body and juicy and long drink. Poja is ideal to accompany red meat and game roasts. Excellent if combined with non-spicy aged cheeses, it is masterfully encountered with truffle-based dishes
