Charlotte Perriand - Lamp - Pivoting to Install - Metal

Charlotte Perriand's Pivotante table lamp consists of a central cylindrical body open on two sides, around which two diffuser caps rotate to direct and filter the light. The base is made of matte gray painted steel, and the lamp body is painted in sky blue metal. Power on is operated via cable.

The rotating part is often considered the invention of the dimmable lamp.

According to Charlotte Perriand, lamps are not merely decorative elements added without reason, but a functional and technical component, a tool and an object that respond to specific needs.

Perriand's minimalist approach imparts a timeless character to her creations: these are the 'useful forms' derived from the movement she co-founded in 1949.
