Elisabeth Sonrel - Embroidery - 80 cm - 50 cm - Flowers of the Mountains

This work by Elisabeth Sonrel is titled Fleurs de Montagne. It is remarkable for being very finely embroidered.
The condition is reasonable, with some bad spots because the silk piece on which it was originally embroidered had partially decayed. The embroidery has now been transferred onto a new piece of fabric. The frame is also from the time around 1900.

Elisabeth Sonrel was a French painter and illustrator in the Art Nouveau style. Her work included allegorical subjects, mysticism, symbolism, portraits, and landscapes. She was born in Tours and was the daughter of the painter Nicolas Stéphane Sonrel, who was also her first teacher.
