Sextant in leather case by T.S. Scott London, circa 1880-1910. Box sextants were mainly used from the late 19th century to the early 20th century, before modern nautical instruments became common. Thomas T.S. Scott was an English instrument maker in London. A sextant is a navigation instrument for maritime and land surveying. It is used to measure the angle between the horizon and a celestial body (sun, star) to determine position. It is 5.5 cm high. Marked and equipped with many texts and measurement tables. Will be shipped with track and trace.
