Description from the seller
USSR – Lot of 4 Soviet Commemorative Medals – incl. Signed Cosmonaut Portrait Medal (1961) – Space & State Anniversaries
Description
Lot of four original Soviet (USSR) commemorative medals, dating from the mid–late 20th century.
The obverse sides are shown in the first photo, and the reverse sides in the second photo.
Detailed contents of the lot:
Artist-Signed Cosmonaut Portrait Medal – dated 1961
Large dark-patinated medal featuring a realistic side-profile portrait of a man, stylistically consistent with early Soviet space / cosmonaut commemorative art.
The reverse is plain and bears:
An engraved artist’s signature
The engraved date “1961”
The year 1961 is historically significant for Soviet space exploration, strongly suggesting this is an author (artist-made) medal connected to the early Space Age, likely produced as a studio, exhibition, or commemorative piece rather than a mass-issued award.
100 Years of Soviet–Danube Shipping (1883–1983)
Official commemorative medal celebrating the centenary of regular Russian international shipping on the Danube River.
Obverse with large “100” and ship motif; reverse with Russian text mentioning 21 November 1883.
60th Anniversary of the Kyrgyz Soviet Socialist Republic (1924–1984)
Bronze commemorative medal with enamel details, showing the emblem of the Kyrgyz SSR and the anniversary dates 1924–1984.
Historical Soviet Figurative Medal
Bronze medal depicting two figures in relief with a circular Cyrillic inscription, commemorating a historical or ideological Soviet theme.
Condition
Good vintage condition with original patina, surface wear, and light scratches, consistent with age.
The signed 1961 medal shows hand-finished characteristics typical of artist-produced Soviet medals.
Please study the photos carefully, as they form an integral part of the description.
Material
Bronze / brass alloys (non-precious metals).
Dimensions
Approx. 60–70 mm diameter each (measuring tape visible in photos).
Authenticity
All items are original Soviet-era medals, not modern reproductions.
