Description from the seller
Austria. Vienna. 2 Schilling. 1936
Valor: 2 Schilling.
Year: 1936.
- Inscriptions: PRINZ EUGEN VON SAVOYEN with the profile bust of the prince facing left and the dates 1663–1736; OESTERREICH surrounding the double-headed eagle with a central shield and the value 2 S on the reverse.
- Grade: MS62 (NGC).
A 1936 Austrian commemorative coin issued to mark the bicentennial of the death of Prince Eugene of Savoy, one of the most prominent military figures of the Habsburg Empire. The obverse features a strong-character portrait with detailed rendering of curly hair and armor, conveying solidity and authority, while the reverse maintains the classic Austrian double-headed eagle, a symbol of the state, finely crafted and well-centered. The specimen shows original luster still perceptible, with slight contact marks and a soft patina typical of the MS62 grade, offering an attractive presence and a notable historical significance within interwar period commemorative numismatics.
