Legras (Saint-Denis) Art Nouveau crystal glass plate with a festooned edge, colourfully enamelled with hard enamels, circa 1900–1910, France, in excellent condition with minimal signs of wear; height 6.7 cm, diameter 20.7 cm.
Description from the seller
Legras (Saint-Denis) – Plato Art Nouveau in polychrome enameled glass with festooned edge – circa 1900–1910
Height: 6.7 cm · Diameter: 20.7 cm
Delicate and refined blown glass piece, with a round body and low profile, made from colorless glass coated with a layer of light amber slightly smoked (fumé), bent and worked in hot. The edge features an elegant pinched-shaped festoon, which adds dynamism and a pronounced organic character to the silhouette.
The piece is elevated on a tripod foot applied in hot, a technical and aesthetic resource characteristic of Legras's artistic production, which enhances its visual lightness and ornamental function.
The decoration is executed with hard polychrome enamels, displaying fine floral motifs of great chromatic delicacy, in harmony with the transparency and soft tones of the glass. This decorative language, inspired by nature, is fully aligned with the sensibility of French Art Nouveau from the early 20th century.
Work attributed to the Legras glassworks, established in Saint-Denis, created around 1900–1910, a period of artistic fullness for the house.
Very good condition, with well-preserved enamels and no appreciable restorations.
