Description from the seller

Rare collection of old photographs of Constantinople and the Bosphorus, circa 1880–1900. The albumin prints, mounted on cardboard, show iconic views of the city and its surroundings:
Religious monuments: Hagia Sophia, Green Mosque of Brousse, Suleymaniye, Tombs of the Whirling Dervishes, Tomb of Sultan Mahmoud, Turkish mosques and cemeteries.
Urban and Bosphorus views: Thérapia, Anadolu Kavak, Candili, Kiosque des Eaux douces d’Asie.
Ethnographic scenes: 'Arab singer' and local characters.
These photographic plates come from active photographic studios in Constantinople at the end of the 19th century (Sebah, Joaillier, Berggren), which sold these albums to European travelers in the Orient.
Condition: well-preserved photos, some with reduced contrasts; yellowed mounting cartons, brittle edges, and small losses, but overall solid.
