Original edition of this critical biography provided by Maurice Tourneux, illustrated with 24 full-page reproductions, published in the collection Les Grands Artistes.

Copy of the designer and engraver Aglaüs Bouvenne (1829-1903), who notably created the ex-libris of Victor Hugo. Bound in a pyrography-decorated binding, signed by the owner, depicting a portrait of Delacroix in the center of the front cover with the mention 'amicus amico'. A cold filet frames the covers, with a smooth spine decorated with the title in gold lettering. Covers preserved (without the spine).

Enriched by the author's dedication to Bouvenne: [In memory of our common admiration].

Very beautiful specimen. Frotte leather with bits, caps, and cuts. Impeccable interior.
