Important pre-unification Italian road and postal map, created by Carlo Cerri and published by the prestigious Vienna-based publisher Artaria. The map depicts the Italian peninsula divided into the various states prior to Italy's unification, with particular attention to the road network and postal connections, which were central elements for administration, commerce, and mobility at the time.

The large central typographic cartouche, finely engraved and decorated with ornamental scrolls, displays the title, author, scale, and place of publication, giving the work a strong aesthetic as well as documentary significance. The political boundaries are highlighted in color, following nineteenth-century cartographic conventions, making it easier to read the different territorial entities.

Rare original Artaria e Compagni editorial box (Vienna), made of marbled cardboard with a colored paper spine and an internal typographic label, preserved together with the paper as in the original.
