AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

Around 1910. Cristallerie Legras & Cie / Montjoye. France

Beautiful ancient vase 'Belgrade' with a polylobed neck, hot-worked with a tool, featuring an opaque orange background tinted in the mass with very lovely crepuscular color nuances, decorated with a hot-enamelled rotating scene of a charming winter lakeside landscape depicting a forest of bare trees under snow, with a flock of birds in the distance and snowball effects in relief, very delicately hand-painted, inspired by the native Vosges forest of Legras, which he loved so much.

Beautiful Legras signature in black enamel in the snow.

Remarkable high-quality work of enameling with subtle twilight hues by this famous glassmaker from the very early 20th century.

Beautiful height of 280mm with a lovely volume.

This 'Belgrade' form of the famous 'Effet de motte de neige' series signed by LEGRAS is quite rare and sought after by collectors, who, for this piece, have nothing to envy from other great names in glassmaking of the early 20th century such as Émile Gallé or Daum Nancy.

Perfectly referenced and illustrated proof in the famous catalog raisonné 'Legras Maître Verrier' (See the latest photos).

LEGRAS... The great master of the forest!
François-Théodore Legras—the emperor of Saint-Denis as he was nicknamed—remained throughout his life a little guy from the Vosges, son of a lumberjack, a child.
a lumberjack himself before being trained in glassmaking, and eternally passionate about nature and the forest...
On these vases, particularly around 1900-1910 (under the progressive auspices of his nephew Charles), the forested nature will explode with beauty on the magnificent series Trees with Lacustrine Landscapes surrounded by lakes.

In good condition for its age, with lovely sunset-like color nuances.
Just note a subtle firing defect that occurred during the blowing process, making this very beautiful collectible piece signed LEGRAS from the very early 20th century a unique and rare item that will undoubtedly enhance and elevate your interior decor and inspire admiration from your guests!

Beautiful mark from the cut of the blower's cane at the clamp under the base, a sign of high-quality traditional artisanal craftsmanship.

Family private collection in Paris on the Rive Gauche, kept under glass for several generations.

A very beautiful collectible piece from the Art Nouveau period of the Nancy school.
Daum Nancy, Gallé, Le verre Français, Schneider...

Guaranteed professional shipment, very carefully handled and secure, with tracking and insurance.
