Ancient Egyptian faience amulet depicting the lion-headed goddess Sekhmet, dating to the Late Period ca. 600 BC, fragment about 2.9 cm in size, with a Certificate of Authenticity from JFF - Ancient Art.
Description from the seller
For sale is a fascinating ancient Egyptian amulet made of light green faience, depicting the lion-headed goddess Sachmet. Sachmet ('The Powerful') was one of the most important deities in ancient Egypt, revered as the goddess of war, but also as a protector against diseases and a healer.
The piece is characterized by the fine detailing of the lion head and the preserved greenish glaze, which is typical of the Late Egyptian period. The amulet is preserved as a fragment but clearly shows the characteristic iconography of the goddess.
A particular added value for the buyer is the comprehensive provenance, which dates back to the 1970s.
