AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

The enormously underrated Yashica FX-D could very well be one of the best SLR cameras for beginners you can choose.
Yashica is a relatively unknown camera company compared to its other Japanese competitors, but over time, it has produced some astonishing technical marvels, from the Yashica Mat 124G TLR to the Electro 35 series rangefinder cameras, the latter of which is also one of my favorites.

The Yashica FX-D Quartz is the 'sister' of the Contax 139 Quartz, which was introduced in 1980. Furthermore, the FX-D has similar features, a relatively small body, and the same Contax/Yashica bayonet mount for lenses. The FX-D is very suitable as a second body for Contax users because the control buttons are located in the same positions on the body as on Contax. Notably, the button for the light meter is at the front. On the bottom of the camera, there is a connection for a motor drive. When it was introduced, a motor drive was not yet available, but it was compatible with the motor drive of the Contax 139.

A variant of the FX-D was sold as the FX-D SE Quartz. This version of the camera has a back plate with a window behind which a rotating red-and-white wheel indicates that the film is being wound. This feature is not present on the standard FX-D. Yashica added an extra page to the FX-D manual to explain the difference, as well as a sticker on the front with 'SE'.

The camera has been tested and functions properly. Some cosmetic signs of age and previous use. A camera that you can enjoy a lot.

Good luck with the auction and success!
