Medieval iron prick spur, hand-forged, about 127 mm long, with a curved U-shaped heel-band and a pyramid-shaped prick, used by mounted knights in the 12th–13th centuries; in good condition and acquired in 2025 from the Netherlands, with a Certificate of Authenticity available on request, and EU shipping only.

Medieval iron prick spur, hand-forged wrought iron. It features a curved, slender U-shaped heel-band with rounded terminals with a pin to attach straps and a short neck with a pyramid shaped prick.
Length: ± 127 mm
Condition: good, solid and stable condition. Signs of wear consistent with an ancient iron artefact.
Certificate of Authenticity: available upon request (pdf-format).
Prick spurs of this type were used by mounted Medieval knights and riders in the early to high medieval period. Their simple pointed terminals intended to give precise cues to the horse. A characteristic example of medieval equestrian equipment.
