The artist signed and dedicated the menu to the chef-owner: 'For Gérard Vié, my admiration and great delight for your remarkable inventiveness and poetic sense...'.

Garard Vié opened the restaurant Les Trois Marches in Versailles in 1970 – 2 Michelin stars. - In 1980, he was leading seven Michelin-starred restaurants, with 140 staff working for him in Paris, Boston, or Versailles - From 1991 to 2007, he was the executive chef at Les Trois Marches in Versailles – 2 stars; Les Trois Marches moved to the Trianon Palace, and the restaurant at 1 Rue du Maréchal-Joffre in Versailles became the Potager du Roy, run by chef Philippe Letourneur.
