Dauno–Messapian Kyathos with a broad ribbed handle and geometric and banded decoration, 14.3 cm long by 11.2 cm high, dating to the 6th century BC, in good condition, acquired in 2024 from a Galerie/antiquaire in Germany with a provenance linking to a 1958 acquisition in Lugano, Switzerland.

KYATHOS DAUNO-MESSAPIEN
Kyathos with a large ribboned handle, raised, featuring a decoration of vertical and horizontal bands. The rim is painted with parallel circular lines. The base of the handle is decorated with a geometric pattern.
Southern Italy, Apulia, Dauno-Messapian workshop, 6th century BC.
Length 14.3 cm, height 11.2 cm - excellent condition - no restoration
Provenance: Germany, S.C.R. gallery.
Previously: Collection acquired in 1958 from art dealer Antonio Fasciani-Escher in Lugano, Italy, and since kept in southern Germany by the collector.
