Early Medieval Viking era, iron knife with bone handle. The slender, single-edged iron blade tapers to a sharp point. The tang is fitted with a carved bone grip, decorated with a series of neatly incised concentric circle-dots, a characteristic and attractive ornamental detail found on utility knives of this period. The grip is secured by iron rivets.
