Description from the seller
Switzerland. Bern. 5 Francs. 1948.
Value: 5 Francs.
- Year: 1948.
- Inscriptions: On the obverse, HELVETIA accompanying the female allegory seated next to a child holding a branch, with the engraver WEGER's signature; on the reverse, 5 FR · CONSTITUTIO · ANNI MDCCCXLVIII · HELVETIAE FORTIORIS FUNDAMENTUM · 1948, with a Swiss cross at the bottom.
- Rating: MS64 (NGC).
Commemorative coin issued on the occasion of the centenary of the Swiss Federal Constitution of 1848, the foundational text of the modern Swiss federal state. The obverse features an allegorical composition of great artistic quality, depicting Helvetia as a maternal and protective figure, accompanied by a child symbolizing the nation's future, with smooth and balanced modeling of the volumes. The reverse, of a solemn and epigraphic character, stands out for its clear typographic arrangement and the strong symbolic charge of the Swiss cross, reinforcing the institutional message of stability and constitutional continuity. The specimen retains an attractive original shine with a light and uniform patina, well-defined reliefs, and clean fields, showing only slight contact marks consistent with a grade of MS64, making it a highly representative and valued piece within 20th-century Swiss commemorative numismatics.
Disclaimer: For orders shipped outside the European Union, I want to make it absolutely clear that I ship from Spain. This means that if the package is sent to any country outside the European Union, and/or inside the EU that has a special tax agreement (for example: Canary Islands), it might be stopped in your local customs, and they might ask you to pay taxes. This is a customs legal procedure and is completely out of our control. Thank you for your understanding.
