Han dynasty jade ritual vessel
Carved from jade with brown and beige hues, it features three faces, each adorned with a taotie face, and is pierced with a wide central hole. Unusually triangular in shape, it has incised circles in the form of taotie and geometric lines along the pointed edges, carved in brown and beige jade with lighter veins.
China, Neolithic period, probably Longshan era, 3200/2000 BC.
Dimensions: height 6.6 cm x width 6.2 cm
Good state of preservation - some areas partially calcified.
Provenance: France, Germany, H.T.A. gallery.
Previous provenance history: Old Germanic collection
