Late Iron Age Celtic open bronze bracelet formed from a solid circular hoop. The bracelet is decorated throughout with a sequence of rounded nodules separated by closely spaced transverse grooves. The terminals are slightly thickened and unfinished, indicating a hoop intended to be worn open.
A robust and visually striking example of personal adornment, characterised by its bold modelling and repetitive ornamental structure. Such bracelets were designed to be both decorative and durable, suitable for everyday wear.
Size: ± 56 mm (inner diameter)
± 77,6 mm (outside diameter)
Condition: complete and in good solid condition. The surface shows an attractive green and blue patina with areas of mineral accretion and light surface wear, consistent with age and prolonged use.
Bracelets of this type are characteristic of late Iron Age traditions that continued into the early Roman period. The nodular and ribbed decoration reflects a long-standing decorative vocabulary in metalwork, often associated with regional identities and personal display. Bronze ornaments such as this served not only as jewellery but also as markers of status and craftsmanship within ancient communities.
