Restored large clay cuneiform tablet from Mesopotamia (Kassite Babylonian), circa 2000 BC, inscribed on two faces in cuneiform (Sumerian), dimensions 62 × 34 mm, examined by Prof. Wilfrid Lambert, acquired in 2024 from a UK gallery with provenance to a London gentleman, with export licences to be organised.

RARE Cuneiform Writing Tablet
Kassite Babylonian clay tablet in the shape of a cushion inscribed with cuneiform writing (Sumerian) on two sides.
The inscribed text probably relates to an administrative inventory.
Dimensions: Length 62 mm x width 34 mm.
Mesopotamia, second millennium BCE.
Examined by Professor Wilfrid George Lambert FBA (1926-2011), a historian, archaeologist, and specialist in Assyriology and Near Eastern archaeology, in the late 1980s and early 1990s.
Provenance information: United Kingdom, T.M.L. gallery.
Previously: property of a London gentleman and kept in London before 1992. From there, through descent, to family members.
The seller can prove that the lot was obtained legally, with a provenance declaration viewed by Catawiki.
