Document from 1550, drafted by notary Bernardino Pyno di Mileto, under the will of Francesco Revertera, was granted the title of Baron of Salandra in 1544; he served as Lieutenant of the Royal Supreme Chamber in 1548 and was appointed President of the Sacred Royal Council in 1556.
This document contains information about the Abbey of V. Angelo Della Valle di Soria in Spain.
Commerce was mainly conducted by a sizable colony of Jews settled in the area of the castle.
A blow to the city's economy was the decree of expulsion of the Jews from Spain issued by the Catholic Monarchs in 1592, which forced the group of wealthy merchants to abandon their businesses and the city to emigrate abroad.
