AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

Two Chinese Pekinese rugs – 318 × 77 cm – Wool on cotton – Handmade – circa 1950–1960

We present to you a set of two Chinese Peking rugs, runner format, handcrafted entirely in wool on a cotton warp. These are authentic pieces from the 1950s–1960s, showcasing the classic quality of traditional Beijing workshops.

Both rugs stand out for their typical Peking design: floral medallions, Chinese decorative symbols, and an elegant brick-red border with stylized flowers in shades of blue, pink, and cream. The colors are dyed with natural and vegetable pigments, beautifully preserved.

Important:
The tone variations visible in some photos are solely due to the direction of the hair and the lighting effect. They are not stains or discolorations.

Features
Measurements of each rug: 318 × 77 cm.
• Material: high-quality wool; base and fringes in cotton
• Technique: hand-tied
• Origin: Beijing (Peking), China
Estimated year: ca. 1950–1960

These corridors are particularly thin, soft, and very flexible. The wool has a silky feel, and the carpet folds easily, which is typical of the higher-quality ancient Peking carpets.
Fine structure, lightweight base, and excellent finishes.

Condition status

Impeccable.
Without damages, without restorations, without wear.
Completely original fringes and edges in excellent condition.
