A pair of bronze Art Deco candlesticks from the Netherlands, dating to circa 1920–1930, each about 13.5 cm tall with a broad square foot, featuring a geometric relief and dark patina in good condition.
Description from the seller
A substantial and striking pair of antique candlesticks, cast in Bronze, featuring a pronounced geometric and architectural design. The stylistic elements, characterized by strong, clean lines and repetitive angular patterns (triangles and hatching) on the shaft and base, are highly characteristic of the Art Deco movement, or specifically the Dutch Amsterdam School style.
The candlesticks stand on a broad, square foot with subtly raised or stepped corners. The central shaft tapers upwards and is heavily decorated with the geometric relief. The top features a wide, square-shaped drip-pan leading to the candle holder cup. The rich, dark patina accumulated over time enhances the relief and texture of the casting, emphasizing the antique nature of the pieces.
Estimated Period : 1910 - 1930
Condition : good antique condition, consistent with age and use. Natural, dark patina throughout. No significant damage or repairs. See all pictures to make a informed decision, the pictures are part of the description.
This pair represents a fine example of early 20th-century decorative metalwork, where the shift from flowing Art Nouveau lines to the stricter, geometric forms of Art Deco was underway. Their solid construction and distinctive style make them attractive to collectors of period lighting.
