Description from the seller
Magnificent Mysterious Watch in Gold-Plated Bronze, Bronze, and Alpine Granite/Marble.
Beautiful depiction of the winged putto in gilded bronze, holding a heavy semi-sphere in bronze, which also serves as the clock.
The semi-sphere is also very thick, making the design of this antique watch even more beautiful.
We are from the second half of the 1800s, more towards the end and the very beginning of the 1900s at most, with a functioning mechanism.
Beautifully, the slightly curved hands follow the convex shape of the Hemisphere.
The clock is mounted via a pin that protrudes from the foot of the Putto, and the clock rests on the larger support that extends from the Granite/Marble of the Alps pedestal. There is also a provision beneath the other foot of the bust for the insertion of a pin, which would secure the Putto more firmly (it is currently movable, so care must be taken not to bump it), but you can decide whether or not to apply this additional feature.
Almost optimal conditions, only one mark/chip on the marble base, visible in the photo but I challenge you to find it (difficult to see without close attention).
Some other rings, I think removable, around the raised brass numbers on the clock face.
Anyone who wishes can polish the cherub, making it shine with a specific product, but I personally recommend leaving the patina of time unchanged.
It works very well, starting immediately after loading, even with a little.
Not having tested its long-term durability, it may require lubrication and cleaning to optimize performance.
28 cm in height.
The weight of the support made of marble is about 2 kg plus some.
About 900 grams is the weight of the Putto/Clock part.
