Description from the seller

Pair of traditional Manding daggers - West Africa - Mid-20th century

Very beautiful set consisting of two traditional West African daggers, characteristic of the craftsmanship of the Mandingue people (Mali/Senegal/Guinea). These pieces demonstrate remarkable artisanal skill, blending metalwork, leatherwork, and tablettery.

Blades: Two straight steel blades with a stylus style, double-edged. They show signs of use patina and oxidation traces that attest to their age (not cleaned to preserve authenticity).
Handles: * The first is made of bone (or dense light wood), sculpted with a beautiful smooth patina.
The second features a superb marquetry work alternating slices of dark wood and bone, creating an elegant striped pattern.
Guards and Pommel: Made of solid brass, decorated with fine geometric engravings typical of the Sudanese-Saharan style.
Sheaths: in traditional red/brown leather with stamped and braided decorations. They end with large leather fringes in pompons, characteristic of this region.

Objects in their original state, generally in good condition for their age. The leathers are well preserved, and the blades show superficial surface oxidation (see photos).

Careful packaging and tracked shipping within 24 to 48 hours.
