Neapolitan Nativity Scene, handcrafted shepherd figure 'Zampognaro'. The character is placed near the Nativity scene and plays the Zampogna, a musical instrument, with the melody of the Christmas novena, together with the child holding the Ciaramella, of Neapolitan craftsmanship from the mid-20th century. The head and hands are made of painted terracotta in polychrome. Eyes are made of glass paste, and feet are wooden, covered with fabric, skillfully worked to give plasticity and realism, as per the tradition of old Neapolitan workshops. The mannequin body is made of old stuffing from a vintage manufacture. The character wears original period clothing. The figure measures 33 cm in height, 13 cm in width, and 13 cm in depth.
