Hans Peter Feldmann, author/illustrator, presents the artist’s booklet '7 Bilder', limited to 80 copies, first edition (1970), in German with original language, softcover, 8 pages, 92 x 137 mm, in excellent condition.
Description from the seller
A stapled booklet containing seven group photographs (schoolchildren, wedding, athletes, families) under a brown cover stamped with the title "7 Bilder" as well as the artist's name.
Artist's edition, 1970.
Limited edition of 80 copies.
Perfect condition.
Provenance: Galerie Durand Dessert, Paris.
Rare and sought after
The small artist's books simply titled “Bild” or “Bilder” that H. P. Feldmann produced between 1968 and 1976 are among the most important artist's books of the 20th century, alongside those by Ed Ruscha and Christian Boltanski.
Great simplicity and a lack of artifice in these publications.
These are invariably modest in size, most often with a brown cover that evokes school exercise booklets.
They contain a variable number of photographs on a particular theme.
Bibliography
-H. P Feldmann: The Museum in the Mind, Walther Konig 1989.
-Martin Parr: The Photobook, Volume 2, page 158.
- Hans Peter Feldmann: Books, Publications, Periodicals 1960–2021
Walther Konig Edition 2023 reproduces pages 12 and 13.
