AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

Very beautiful BR 61 steam locomotive from the Art Deco era (the actual model was designed in 1935).

This rare model was created for the MHI (Marklin Händler Initiative), an association of German traders, and was delivered during the members' meeting on October 13, 2006.
With mfx digital decoder, high-performance regulated Softdrive-Sinus motorization, and noise generator.
Two headlights on each side of the locomotive that change to white depending on the direction of travel.
HO scale 1:87 with a superb black cast iron finish.

History
Around 1935, the Deutsche Reichsbahn-Gesellschaft (DRG) aimed to establish fast connections between the major cities of Germany. In addition to fast electric multiple units with diesel engines, such as the 'Fliegende Hamburger,' it was decided to design and build a new steam traction train.
The Berlin-Dresden line was equipped with a train consisting of a streamlined tender locomotive 61001 and four lightweight passenger cars. Thanks to its low total weight and 2300 mm driving wheels, the train reached a maximum speed of 175 km/h during testing. In regular service, the speed did not exceed 160 km/h. The total time for the Berlin-Dresden connection was 100 minutes, resulting in an average speed of 106 km/h. Conventional trains hauled by the BR 01 (or 03, as an alternative solution) could not achieve such an average at all.
After the war, this train, which became famous under the name 'Henschel-Wegmann', remained in West Germany, and the cars thus found a new career. The BR61 locomotive, for its part, was retired in 1951.

Tested and in working order.
This locomotive is new; the box has only been opened to take photos and test it.
The box shows minor signs of rubbing.

The photos are part of the description.

Careful and confident delivery.
