Crioceratites majoricensis, a spiny heteromorph ammonite on matrix from the Early Cretaceous (145–100.5 mya) in France, restored with 100% of the spines reconstructed and mounted on a wooden stand.
Description from the seller
Rare and beautiful heteromorph ammonites, Spiny Crioceratites majoricensis from the Upper Hauterivian, Baleares zone.
This museum-quality Crioceratites specimen was discovered and prepared by a renowned fossil preparator and collector, Donna Fossils. Many painstaking hours of work were needed to expose the three-dimensional form of the fossil from the matrix.
This ammonite features a beautifully crafted wooden stand that combines vintage charm with timeless elegance. You can also reposition the stand to achieve different wood shades, effects, or colors—adjust it as you prefer.
Note that spines rarely fossilize, are incredibly difficult to prepare, and some likely wore off during the ammonite's lifetime.
In this specimen, spines have been reconstructed to show how it might have appeared in life when the specimen was prepared.
Restoration notes: 100% of the spines are reconstructed and glued into their original anatomical position.
Ammonite is 6.5 cm from spine to spine.
Matrix is 11.5 x 4.8 cm.
Including this elegant stand.
This fossil looks great from every angle and would make an impressive addition to a home, office, or museum collection.
