【Product details】
This small bronze sculpture represents Brahma, the Hindu god of creation, shown with four serene faces symbolising divine wisdom and awareness extending in all directions. Each face embodies one of the cardinal aspects of creation: compassion, justice, meditation, and knowledge.
The head is crowned with an elaborate tiered headdress richly detailed with floral and geometric motifs. The rounded facial contours and tranquil expressions suggest influence from Khmer or Lao craftsmanship, following the classical forms seen in representations of Brahma or Avalokiteśvara (Lokeśvara) from the Angkor period in Cambodia.
Cast in bronze with a natural green and brown patina, this piece likely once formed part of a larger sculpture. It is now presented on a thin lacquered wooden display stand, added later for stability and exhibition.
Wear, oxidation, and minor losses along the lower edge consistent with age.
An elegant devotional fragment reflecting the spiritual depth and artistic refinement of Southeast Asian bronze sculpture, evoking the enduring legacy of Brahma within the Khmer cultural sphere.
Dimensions: approx. H 9 cm W 5.5 cm D 5.5 cm
