Joan Rivers hadn't made jewelry before joining QVC. It was a new step—and a risk—but it paid off! What set her apart was her willingness to spend time showing her love for jewelry and its history on air. She pulled out books about Fabergé and showed us both originals and her copies. She brought her own vintage accessories, whether Fabergé, Victorian, or Art Deco, and then held them up to compare with her own versions. She loudly read from jewelry books on air and presented video tours of factories, demonstrating how her jewelry was made. She laughed joyfully at the sight of very expensive jewelry replicas that are now sold on Madison Avenue.
