17+/ 20 Jancis Robinson 80% grenache 10% mourvèdre 10% cinsault, Organic. aromas of raspberries, cherries, notes of licorice & spice, hint of tobacco and black olives. Full-bodied and powerful, intense concentration of fruit, with round tannins and medium acidity. Grapes from 40-year-old vines. Aged for 12 months in used Burgundy barrels. Bottled at the domaine. Drinking well now (carafe before serving) and will cellar through 2029. Jean Baptiste Meunier worked in Châteauneuf du Pape before taking over his family’s 10-hectare domaine in 1990. He converted to Organic practices in 2002, grapes are hand-harvested, hand-sorted, undergo whole bunch fermentation and a long post-fermentation maceration before aging. Meunier’s wines are known for their powerful yet elegant character. Shipped from France.
