Description from the seller
Queen-style armchair, Louis XV / Provençal style, oak and upholstery, 19th century - France
Model: Queen Anne armchair
Style: Louis XV, Provençal
Materials: oak wood, upholstery fabric
Late 19th century
Country of origin: France
Provenance: Private collection
Good condition relative to its age and usage.
Total dimensions: 90 x 69 x 73 cm.
Seat height: 47 cm.
Elegant queen-style armchair inspired by Louis XV, made in France at the end of the 19th century. The frame, crafted in carved oak, features sinuous lines in its cabriolé legs, curved arms, and a wavy molding that runs throughout the entire structure. The à la reine model is distinguished by its straight backrest, designed to provide greater stature and comfort.
The upholstery, renewed in a sober gray tone, contrasts with the light patina of the decapé wood, giving it a contemporary feel without losing its classic charm. This piece combines sophistication with functionality, making it an ideal choice for both more traditional and contemporary interiors.
The Queen Anne armchair is a type of seat characteristic of 18th-century French furniture, associated with the Louis XV style. It is distinguished by its straight backrest (unlike the à cabriolet, which is curved), open arms, and cabriole-shaped curved legs. It was a salon seat, designed for high society women, combining elegance and comfort.
