Description from the seller
Pansound Flip Clock with AM Radio – Hong Kong, 1970s
Vintage flip clock with rolling number drums produced in Hong Kong in the 1970s, branded Pansound, featuring an integrated AM radio. A characteristic example of functional Asian design from the period, with a compact squared case, contrasting front panel and a large transparent window for clear time display.
The clock has been tested and is fully functional:
– the time runs correctly
– the flip mechanism advances smoothly
– the clock keeps accurate time
The clock is driven by an original AC synchronous electromechanical motor, powered directly from the mains. This type of motor, widely used in flip clocks of the 1960s–1970s, regulates time by the stability of the electrical grid frequency, ensuring consistent and reliable operation.
The motor directly drives the roller assembly through a mechanical reduction system; contacts are clean and the motor runs smoothly, with no hesitation.
The integrated AM radio powers on and off correctly, and the volume control works as intended. Due to changes in broadcasting standards over time, modern radio frequencies cannot be received, which is typical for vintage AM radios of this era. The radio section should therefore be considered primarily a decorative and collectible feature.
Condition:
Good vintage condition, with signs of age and use consistent with its period. The photographs are an integral part of the description. Video at following link : https://youtu.be/N7G6uBE8NFw
Dimensions:
– Height: approx. 16 cm
– Width: approx. 16 cm
– Depth: approx. 8 cm
A genuine 1970s flip clock, ideal for collectors of electromechanical clocks, Space Age / Mid-Century design, and vintage Asian radio-clock combinations.
