Description from the seller
This museum-quality Amsterdam School pendulum clock was produced in very limited quantities and dates from the period 1920-1925. Years ago, I saw this clock in the museum 't Schip in Amsterdam, but I have not come across it anywhere else.
At some point, a Belgian watchmaker had this clock manufactured or owned it, as seen from the picture on the back of the clock case.
The unique design is oval-shaped, crafted from a single piece of wood with a stylized round form, and despite its age, it is in perfect condition.
Several types of wood are used in this clock, including beautifully grained oak wood, and the clock stands on four feet made of coromandel wood.
The front edge is made of solid wood.
But take a good look at the front in the photo, where an unknown type of wood is also incorporated in parts, including in an oval shape where the numbers are visible.
Remarkable are the light wooden numbers, completely undamaged with a unique hand-carved display style typical of Art Deco.
The movement has been properly oiled and runs well, with a seconds beat that sounds pleasant.
The back door closes well, and there is an original key that fits well with the clock's hands.
An Amsterdam pendulum clock that you will rarely or never encounter, and which was one of the top pieces in my collection, but due to restrictions, it may now have a new owner.
The clock, including a key, is extremely carefully packed for countries within Europe but can also be picked up.
