Set of 5 antique seals – engraved monograms – France / Belgium, 19th century
Set of five antique wax seals, all authentic and from the 19th century, composed of engraved brass matrices and turned wooden handles (various types of wood: boxwood, fruitwood, stained ebony).
Each seal bears a different monogram, manually engraved in Gothic or cursive style depending on the piece.
The matrices are quite clear, typical of private stamps used for correspondence.
Description of matrices:
Monogram 'P C' – gothic engraving, rectangular plaque with beveled edges.
2. Monogram 'R J' – Gothic script, oval matrix.
Monogram 'C J' with an engraved olive branch and a small stylized anchor motif.
Monogram 'Sophie' – flowing cursive script, decorated with scrollwork.
5. Monogram 'B V O' – in gothic script, with an oval pearl border.
Average dimensions: Height of the stamps: 6 to 9 cm - Diameter of the matrices: 1 to 2 cm
