Silver seal stamp – France, late 19th century
Elegant silver seal (tested), in late Louis XVI / early Belle Époque style, featuring a hexagonal-section shaft decorated with vertical panels adorned with laurel branches in light relief. The top adopts a faceted nut shape, quite typical of Parisian production around 1880–1900.
The circular matrix is finely engraved with an interlaced monogram 'MM' (or possibly 'WM' depending on the reading), executed in a very dense calligraphic style, typical of the turn of the century.
Fine work, no modern engraving. Thick silver, still well-defined facets and reliefs. Homogeneous patina.
Dimensions: Height: approx. 8.5 cm - Matrix diameter: approx. 2.3 cm
State:
Very good overall condition. Micro-scratches from use, small marks on the top (see photos). No deformation of the barrel, matrix perfectly legible.
Provenance: Private collection.
