Description from the seller

Silver seal matrix, coat of arms with a figure of a wild man – 19th century

Silver seal matrix (tested), of truncated conical shape, bearing an oval plate finely engraved.
The emblem depicts a shield topped with a count's crown and charged with an eagle with outstretched wings, accompanied on the dexter side by a figure of a wild man (or 'wild' heraldic figure), bare-chested and girded with a leaf, holding a club. The whole is framed by vegetated branches and rests on a stylized terrace.

The engraving style — bold sizes, emphasized volumes, clear modeling of the figure — corresponds to the work of a heraldic engraver from the first half of the 19th century. The body of the matrix is shaped and soldered by hand, with visible tool marks that are clean.

Dimensions matrix 2 cm x 1.8 cm

Very good condition. Engraving perfectly readable. Homogeneous patina.

Provenance: Private collection.
