Description from the seller

Set of Napoleon III frames – carved and patinated wood – 19th century – painted miniature.

Elegant 19th-century French set from the Napoléon III period (Second Empire), consisting of two matching table frames, crafted in finely carved wood and finished with an antique black patina subtly reflecting warm brown tones, known as 'sang de bœuf'.

The grand frame features a rich architectural composition with fluted columns, sculpted capitals, beaded friezes, floral garlands, relief roses, and a curved pediment with a central medallion. The sculpture is deep and precise, characteristic of high-quality decorative productions from the Second Empire.

The small matching frame contains an antique hand-painted miniature depicting a young woman holding a painter's palette. The portrait stands out for its fine drawing, gentle flesh tones, and delicate expressions. It is an authentic work by a 19th-century miniaturist.

The frames retain their old wooden backings with cut-out systems of closure and hanging from the period. The patina is uniform and aged, with no visible modern restoration. A very beautiful decorative set, ideal for collectors or enthusiasts of 19th-century objects.

Dimensions :
Large frame: 28.5 × 18.5 cm
Small frame with miniature: 16 × 11 cm
