Specimen of Heterometrus scorpion, 100 g, 9.5 mm high, 8 mm wide, 8 mm deep, preserved in a transparent display box, originating from Thailand.
Description from the seller
Imposing and fascinating specimen of scorpion belonging to the genus Heterometrus, among the largest and most recognizable scorpions on the Asian continent. The body is robust and compact, with a dark coloration ranging from deep black to mahogany brown, accentuated by a shiny surface that highlights the segmentation of the exoskeleton. The front claws are sturdy and well-developed, with elongated, well-denticulated fingers, serving as the main tool for predation. The metasoma is arched and precisely segmented, ending in a powerful, proportionate telson typical of terrestrial forest species. Sensory setae along the limbs and caudal segments are clearly visible, essential for perceiving environmental vibrations. This genus of scorpions is known for its relatively calm behavior and venom with low toxicity to humans, a characteristic that has favored its spread in scientific and educational collections. The specimen is preserved and displayed in a transparent box, an ideal solution for entomological and arachnological collections, cabinet de curiosités, naturalist studies, educational and museum exhibitions.
The presentation allows for a complete observation of the morphology without altering the natural posture, highlighting the sculptural and primordial aspect of one of the most iconic arachnids of Southeast Asia.
