Description from the seller
Insettario is a 1967 Italian limited edition art book featuring 17 original colour etchings (acqueforti) by Sergio Saroni, an artist from Turin (1934-1991) who trained at the Accademia Albertina.
Giovanni Arpino provided the accompanying text and notes, reflecting on insects' survival mechanisms. Printed on handmade Filicarta paper.
“An excellent example of this reflection on the extraordinary survival system of insects, whose perfection transcends human imagination”. Sergio Saroni was a twentieth-century Italian painter. A student at the Accademia Albertina in Turin, an exponent of the so-called "naturalistic informal" movement, he exhibited at the Venice Biennale in 1956, 1958, and 1962. He taught at the Liceo Artistico and later held the chair of painting at the Accademia Albertina, of which he became director, promoting, among other things, the reopening of the Pinacoteca Albertina. Giovanni Arpino was an Italian writer, journalist, and poet; winner of the Strega Prize in 1964 and subsequently the Campiello Prize in 1980.
