Ngala short sword (Bangala group)
Democratic Republic of the Congo
Total length: 42 cm
Period: early 20th century (1920-30)
Materials: wrought iron, wood, red and yellow copper wire, tapestry nails, copper plates.
Provenance: from a private Belgian collection.

A classic knife from the Bangala peoples of Upper Congo, including the Ngombe, Ngbandi, and Ngbaka. Very beautiful handle crafted from wire and plates of yellow and red copper.
