Description from the seller
Vintage brass magazine holder with antique engravings on celluloid, attributed to Maison Bagues, circa 1930s, France.
This magazine rack is an excellent example of a piece described as 'Hollywood Regency.' The French engravings from the 18th century on the sides depict the Grand Tour of the Regency period. Its modernist design and neoclassical scroll motifs make this piece light and elegant. It features many characteristics of Maison Bagues, the reference designer and manufacturer.
This storage furniture is practical and at the same time elegant. It fits perfectly with various interior design styles, such as traditional, Art Deco, Hollywood Regency, 70s Glamour, Shabby Chic, or Contemporary.
Structurally, it is made of solid brass, with various parts bolted together. The handle and sides feature a scrollwork pattern finished with a decorative knob. At the bottom, there are beautiful dolphin-shaped feet.
At the bottom of the internal compartment, there is a curved surface in solid brass on which magazines rest. The inner sides are lined with fabric of a faint red color.
Note: scratches and stains due to age (please carefully review the photo).
