Description from the seller
Rare antique boat-shaped toilet set – amber enameled glass – late 19th century
⸻
DESCRIPTION
Rare and elegant antique boat-shaped toilet set from the late 19th century (around 1880–1910).
The set consists of two handled bottles and a covered jar made of amber-colored blown glass, richly decorated with hand-painted enameled floral motifs, presented in their original gilded metal support, with a central beveled glass suspended by chains.
The metal frame, finely handcrafted, adopts a stylized boat shape, particularly decorative and uncommon. The amber glass, with a warm and luminous hue, is enhanced by a delicate floral decoration typical of European productions from the Napoléon III / Belle Époque period.
The set remains complete, which is rare for this type of object, and displays a very beautiful visual harmony. It makes for a high-quality decorative piece, ideal for a dressing table, an antique bathroom, or a display cabinet for a collection.
⸻
Dimensions
Height: 23.5 cm
Length: 33 cm
Width: 9 cm
⸻
State
Good to very good overall condition considering its age.
It should be noted that there are slight signs of wear and small chips from use on the neck of the bottle, with no structural impact.
Well-preserved enamelled decor.
Old glass with a patina consistent with the period.
⸻
Époque
Late 19th – early 20th century (around 1880–1910)
⸻
Origin
France or Bohemia (European work)
⸻
STYLE
Napoleon III / Belle Époque
Note: some signs of wear, the caps are original, and I apologize for the photos; the cropping software is not very precise. It is a beveled glass, not a mirror, and what you see is transparency, not a reflection. Please look carefully at the photos as they serve as a description.
