DESCRIPTION
Rare antique pyrogène (pocket matchbox case) in solid silver, Georg Adam Scheid, a prominent Viennese house active at the end of the 19th and the beginning of the 20th century.
The face is adorned with a hand-painted polychrome miniature depicting an elegant Belle Époque woman in a black dress, in a dancing and theatrical pose. The setting is finely executed and particularly expressive, typical of the fashionable and artistic aesthetic of the period.
The object features a compact and refined design, with a functional original hinge. This type of pyrogène was an accessory for smokers or women's handbags, straddling the line between a utilitarian item and a display jewelry piece.
