A single Italian-made acrylic and metal rolling newspaper and magazine cart in a contemporary retro Space Age style, circa 1965–1980, in good used condition with minor age-related marks, measuring about 47.5 cm high, 37 cm wide and 36 cm deep and weighing 7.7 kg.
Description from the seller
Newspaper and magazine carts on wheels – Plexiglas / acrylic – Mid-century / Space Age – circa 1965–1980
Description
Elegant newspaper and magazine cart made of solid acrylic glass (Plexiglas), likely manufactured between 1965 and 1980. The object combines functionality and design and is stylistically related to Mid-Century Modern, Space Age, and early Postmodernism.
The vehicle is equipped with:
an upper shelf for books or magazines
Vertical partition dividers for magazine storage.
Four chrome-plated metal rollers, period-appropriate and functional.
The acrylic glass used is high-quality and robustly made (estimated at about 10–12 mm). The edges are smoothly polished and rounded, indicating a quality series or small-batch production. Not a toy, but a well-thought-out piece of furniture for living or working spaces.
Stylistically very close to Italian Plexiglas design as well as American Lucite furniture.
Without manufacturer marking – therefore no fixed attribution, but stylistically clearly collectible.
state
Good to very good condition.
No cracks, no clouding. Age-appropriate micro-scratches are present, due to material and age, accepted in original plexi objects of this era.
Dimensions:
Height: approximately 47.5 cm
Width: about 37 cm
Depth: about 36 cm
An attractive design object for living space, office, gallery, or studio.
